Background
For 70 years Tebubio has offered a unique and holistic range of solutions for Life Sciences Research in Europe. The company provides innovative services and supplies high-quality reagents to biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical and cosmetics groups, as well as to CROs (Contract Research Organisations) and academic laboratories.
Their solutions include functional tests, proofs-of-concept for discovery of medications, approval of biomarkers, production of recombinant proteins and antibodies, as well as RNA synthesis and molecular biology.
To continue to satisfy the specific requests of their customers, Tebubio’s Contract Research Services (CRS) needs to invest in a new microbiological safety cabinet.
Stakes
This MSC plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the sterility of RNA handling operations and protecting operators. However, the laboratory is located on an upper floor without a lift, with significant space limitations, making the installation of a bulky machine particularly complex.
The Erlab solution
Erlab recommended the type II Solis Essentiel 900 MSC, a compact model perfectly suited to the space limitations in the lab.
This microbiological safety cabinet offers unique features, including :
- Built-in inverter: ensures the safety of handling operations in the event of a power outage, giving the user ten minutes to secure their work before the device switches off completely.
- “Twist and Clean ©” cleaning feature: makes it easier to clean the inside of the glass, enabling the user to maintain a natural and comfortable working position while guaranteeing total decontamination.
- Built-in timer: no need to bring a timer to the workplace, as it is already built into the touchscreen interface and connected to one of the electrical sockets in the work area.
To install the Solis Essentiel 900 MSC, Erlab contracted Bovis, a company specialising in the installation of bulky equipment. Despite the logistical challenges posed by the restricted access to the lab, the equipment was successfully installed.
The result
Thanks to its compact size, the Solis Essentiel 900 MSC fits perfectly into the restricted space of the lab, without compromising the quality of the researchers’ work.
Used daily by cell culture handlers, the equipment guarantees the required sterility while protecting the operators.
In addition, the built-in inverter avoids the need for additional space, which is essential in a limited working environment.
The innovative cleaning feature also improved the ease and efficiency of cleaning, reducing the risk of cross contamination.
By optimising the safety and efficiency of its operations, even in a limited space, Tebubio continues to provide high-quality research services.
